Head-to-Head Comparison of Cunningham’s Rushing Statistics to Current Hall of Famers

Randall Cunningham flies into endzone

Cunningham had the ability to explode in the open field, escape from sure-to-be sacks, and blaze up field for 30 yard runs.  He also had an amazing sense of balance and ball control propelling him to into the end zone by any means necessary.

1. Randall Cunningham = 4,928 & 35 TDs

2. ^Michael Vick = 4,630 & 32 TDs

3. Steve Young [HOF] = 4,239 & 43 TDs

4. Fran Tarkenton [HOF] = 3,674 & 32 TDs

5. ^Steve McNair = 3,590 & 37 TDs

6. John Elway [HOF] = 3,407 & 33 TDs

**Warren Moon [HOF] = 1,736 & 22 TDs

**Troy Aikman [HOF] = 1016 & 9 TDs

^ While both Vick and McNair are not hall of famers (yet), there are going to be arguments made for both.  It is also important to provide adequate context for Cunningham’s career numbers.

** While these current HOFers did not rank in the top 20 rushing stats for QBs, we thought it would be interesting to see the difference in overall yards and TDs compared to Randall’s all-time leading 4,928 and 35 TDs.

Very interesting stats!! He has clearly been overlooked!

  2. based on the stats, Id have to say he was a running QB before the term was in common usage
