We are Phil and Jay.  Two friends that like to discuss everything related to sports, records, statistics, and the hall of fame worthiness of certain sports stars.  HOF Worthy is a blog about discussing all things related to sports and the hall of fame worthiness of athletes.

If you haven’t surmised by now what the term “hofworthy” means let me explain. “HOF” refers to the Hall of Fame (not David Hasselhoff). What Phil and I intend to do through this website is highlight the careers of those who we believe are worthy of Hall of Fame enshrinement. For now it may seem that we are only highlighting those worthy of the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, OH. However, we are not specifically choosing just football players. Future prospects on our website will likely include members of any of the four “major” sports.

For now however, allow me to clarify what the goals of the Pro Football Hall of Fame are. You see, many of us hold our own mental halls of fame – choosing those players we most adore and worship – either currently or as a kid. Phil and I are no different.  You will likely see an abundance of former Philadelphia sports figures as the subjects of our efforts on the website but we want this to be objective as well. We want the sports world to recognize true greatness as each sport defines it and so we are choosing to highlight those careers that we believe fit not only our own personal halls of fame, but also the representative halls of each sport.

The stated mission of the Pro Football Hall of Fame:

To honor individuals who have made outstanding contributions to professional football

To preserve professional football’s historic documents and artifacts

To educate the public regarding the origin, development and growth of professional football as an important part of American culture

To promote the positive values of the sport

To honor, preserve, educate, and promote. I believe the goals of hofworthy.com are in alignment with those of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.  Our goal is to honor those players who have made outstanding contributions to the sport. We won’t archive literature on the sport but do hope to contribute to preserving the greatness of those who have played the game and educate those who never got a chance to see the players we highlight.  Lastly, we are in some small way promoting positive values of sport as we recall and remember the impact these great athletes have had on our lives and our love of sports and competition.  It was a joy to experience sports greatness unfold before us.

As we embark on this journey, we welcome your comments on the players and also ask that you make suggestions as to those players you believe we should include on our website.
